The Leon Levy Native Plant Preserve, founded in 2011, is located in Governor’s Harbour on the beautiful island of Eleuthera in the Bahamas.  Situated on 12 hectares it was created to showcase the native species of the Bahamas, the history of bush medicine and to support early childhood education. The Preserve has two kilometers of hiking trails, boardwalks, display beds, an overlook tower, lath house and excellent examples of Caribbean Dry Forest, mangroves and freshwater wetlands. There are more than 425 species in its living collection (~30 % of the flora) including 50 % of the country’s endemic species.

As part of the Bahamas National Trust and its mission the Levy Preserve is active in plant conservation efforts for the nation in fulfilling 11 of the targets in the Global Strategy for Plant Conservation. The Preserve is open 365 days of the year and hosts educational and recreational activities.
