Bailey Arboretum
Description
Bailey Arboretum, Lattingtown, New York is a 45 acre Nassau County owned public site administered by the Friends of Nassau County Bailey Arboretum. It consists of the arboretum which covers 98% of the property, a 200 year old manor house, out buildings (educational center, visitors cottage, garages, workshops and storage sheds), seven acres of landscaped grounds, and managed ponds and wetlands. Originally a working farm, Frank Bailey (1865-1953) bought the property in 1911 and spent the rest of his life turning it into one of America’s first public garden museums with a world famous collection of exotic trees and shrubs.
