Davis Cemetery Arboretum

Description

The Davis Cemetery is located in a friendly university town in the California Valley. It is a sanctuary for native and California adapted plants and wildlife, as well as a destination for visitors seeking a quiet retreat. There are over 85 tree species and 40 different species of woody plants on the grounds, each selected for the ability to provide wildlife habitat, attract beneficial insects, and thrive in the Sacramento Valley climate. The grounds are certified as an official wildlife habitat by the National Wildlife Federation.

Colorful perennial gardens and diverse plantings of tree copses on the grounds create year-round interest. Visitors can gaze up at the soaring Italian Cypress and California Fan Palms, planted in 1901, as they weave among distinctive statues, plinths and other monuments memorializing people deeply rooted in local Davis history.
